This past week, I got to go and visit my best friend, Sara, from high school and her little boy, Joe, who happens to also be my godson. It was a quick trip, as just for the afternoon. But it was so worth those 4 hours on the road. I wish there was a way we could live closer, that I could see him at least once a week, but things don't work like that. So instead, we make the most of the little moments we have together.
He has grown so much, even since I saw him a couple months ago, at the beginning of summer. And he is the happiest little guy, so full of energy and fun! He is such a character! And loves loves to talk, and tell me all about anything and everything!! It made my heart smile so much!! :) I learned about how he's so proud of anything he can call his... "See my big house" "There my bushes" "There my street" "Here my legos!" I just loved it as he showed me everything! And I'm pretty sure he is going to be a pro golfer someday!! I mean, why else would he be 2.5 years old, and cry when his dad goes to golf league and he can't come along?!? Or how he can show me the difference between his "putter, chipper, and driver!" OMG!! I love this little man!
We ended up going to the city pool that day, and it was such a change as last year. He screamed last year when we brought him in the pool, and this year he got sad when we have to get out for break! :) Pretending to be a little frog jumping on the lily pads, "rib-bit rib-bit!" Or a speed boat in the water, or just love to jump off our legs in the water! And sliding down the slide... "Hurry Hurry" before the big bucket dumps water!! :) It was the best! Earlier that day, before we left for the pool, Joe was so excited!! Basically an excited scream, telling his dad... "Goodbye Dad!! Have good day!! See you later!!" and "I going to pool with my friend Stacey!"
But I think my favorite was when I was leaving, (I had to leave to go to a birthday party)... he kept saying, "Stacey have to go to party, Joe not go." But then as driving off, Sara asked... "Did you hear what he said?" No, I couldn't hear anymore. But he said... "Thank you for playing with me today!" Ahhh... melted my heart!! What a beautiful blessing and gift he is! Some days, those thoughts still get the best of me... wishing I had a family of my own. My own children to love and teach and watch grow. But for some reason, God has a different timeline for me than I wanted. And some days, no matter what, it's still hard. But these little moments... these special days are one of the greatest gifts God has given me!! I recently heard this quote while listening to a speaker,
"Every day is a gift. Every moment is a treasure. Live the faith and be a light for others. Be not afraid." How perfect is every word of that!!

Then I have to tell about my other little very special friends. I know I've written about them before. But today, I was glancing at Facebook, and for those who don't pay attention, or have Facebook... each day Facebook shares a memory with you from a certain number of years ago.. can be 1, 2, 5, 6... they randomly pick. Only the own person can see the memory, unless they share it. It's fun to see the years past, but I have never shared them. Well.. today when I opened up Facebook... this memory came up from 2 years ago... and I just couldn't believe it's been two years ago already. My last day of being "nurse" to this special boy. It was a bitter sweet day... as when I remember, we went to the Durham, the park, and just had very special time together, just the two of us. Lots of laughs, smiles, singing, stories, hugs, some tears, and lots of "I Love You's." It's a great memory. I remember crying in my car, as I left his house that last day... thinking it's never going to be the same. I'm going to miss him so much, his entire family. and how much will I see him now. But life is beautiful, and staying so close is what we all did! So this boy that came into my life back in 2012, is still holds one of the biggest peices of my heart!! And I'm so blessed and grateful for all the fun and special memories we've had since then!! And just for the incredible miracle Peter is!!!

Here are some more fun memories we've had this summer so far! I say so far because we are going to try to go camping... real camping-- tent, s'mores, fishing, ghost stories-- the whole works before school starts up again!! I can't wait!! :)
